Workers Rights in Israel - 2026
1. Minimum Wage
• Monthly (full-time, 182 hours): 6,444 NIS
• Daily: 258 NIS
• Hourly: 35.4 NIS
• Employers may deduct fixed amounts for health insurance, housing, and food, as
defined by law.
2. Salary Payment
• Salary must be paid no later than the 9th of each month, for the previous month.
3. Overtime Pay
• Applies to LIVE-OUT caregivers or those working outside the employers home.
• First 2 extra hours: 44 NIS/hour
• Beyond 2 hours: 53 NIS/hour
4. Weekly Rest Day
• Entitled to 25 continuous hours of weekly rest.
• If you work on your rest day: pay should be 440 NIS.
5. Annual Vacation
• First 5 years: 14 paid working days (16 calendar days)
• 13+ years: Up to 4 full weeks
• Can save up vacation days for 3 years.
• Full salary or minimum wage applies.
• No need to find/pay a replacement during vacation.
6. Holidays
• 9 paid holidays per year
• Holiday = 25 hours
• Work on a holiday: 440 NIS total
7. Recuperation Pay
• After 1 year: 5 days × 418 NIS/day
• Year 2–3: 6 days
• Year 4–10: 7 days
• Up to 10 days by year 20
8. Sick Pay
• Doctor’s note required
• Day 1: No pay
• Days 2–3: 50%
• From day 4: 100%
• Earn 1.5 sick days/month (max 90)
• No firing during sick leave
9. Severance Pay (Pitzuim)
• After 1 year, in specific cases (employer death, visa issues, etc.)
• Amount: Monthly salary × years worked
• Paid soon after termination
10. State Deposit (Pikadon)
• Agency workers' funds go to a state fund
• 15% tax deduction applies
• Penalties reduce sum if overstaying
11. Prior Notice
• Resignation: Written notice should be given to agency and employer
• Notice varies by time worked
• Firing: Employer must give written notice
• Accommodation provided for 7 days after job ends
12. Pension
• Employer must set aside 12.5% (6.5% GEMEL, 6% severance)
• Full amount paid even if resigning
13. Pregnancy & Maternity
• 15 weeks paid leave if on B1 visa
• Illegal to fire after 6 months without approval
• Hospital + birth payment provided
14. Health Insurance
• Employer pays during work
• Continue paying after job to keep benefits
• Stay with same company if changing jobs
15. National Insurance
• Employer must register worker and pay monthly
16. Travel Expenses
• LIVE-OUT or hospital workers must be reimbursed
