Workers Rights in Israel - 2025
1. Minimum Wage
ï‚· • Monthly (full-time, 182 hours): 6,248 NIS
ï‚· • Daily: 250 NIS
ï‚· • Hourly: 34.3 NIS
ï‚· • Employers may deduct fixed amounts for health insurance, housing, and food, as
defined by law.
2. Salary Payment
ï‚· • Salary must be paid no later than the 9th of each month, for the previous month.
3. Overtime Pay
ï‚· • Applies to LIVE-OUT caregivers or those working outside the employers home.
ï‚· • First 2 extra hours: 43 NIS/hour
ï‚· • Beyond 2 hours: 51.5 NIS/hour
4. Weekly Rest Day
ï‚· • Entitled to 25 continuous hours of weekly rest.
ï‚· • If you work on your rest day: pay should be 425 NIS.
5. Annual Vacation
ï‚· • First 5 years: 14 paid working days (16 calendar days)
ï‚· • 13+ years: Up to 4 full weeks
ï‚· • Can save up vacation days for 3 years.
ï‚· • Full salary or minimum wage applies.
ï‚· • No need to find/pay a replacement during vacation.
6. Holidays
ï‚· • 9 paid holidays per year
ï‚· • Holiday = 25 hours
ï‚· • Work on a holiday: 426 NIS total
7. Recuperation Pay
ï‚· • After 1 year: 5 days × 418 NIS/day
ï‚· • Year 2–3: 6 days
ï‚· • Year 4–10: 7 days
ï‚· • Up to 10 days by year 20
8. Sick Pay
ï‚· • Doctor’s note required
ï‚· • Day 1: No pay
ï‚· • Days 2–3: 50%
ï‚· • From day 4: 100%
ï‚· • Earn 1.5 sick days/month (max 90)
ï‚· • No firing during sick leave
9. Severance Pay (Pitzuim)
ï‚· • After 1 year, in specific cases (employer death, visa issues, etc.)
ï‚· • Amount: Monthly salary × years worked
ï‚· • Paid soon after termination
10. State Deposit (Pikadon)
ï‚· • Agency workers' funds go to a state fund
ï‚· • 15% tax deduction applies
ï‚· • Penalties reduce sum if overstaying
11. Prior Notice
ï‚· • Resignation: Written notice should be given to agency and employer
ï‚· • Notice varies by time worked
ï‚· • Firing: Employer must give written notice
ï‚· • Accommodation provided for 7 days after job ends
12. Pension
ï‚· • Employer must set aside 12.5% (6.5% GEMEL, 6% severance)
ï‚· • Full amount paid even if resigning
13. Pregnancy & Maternity
ï‚· • 15 weeks paid leave if on B1 visa
ï‚· • Illegal to fire after 6 months without approval
ï‚· • Hospital + birth payment provided
14. Health Insurance
ï‚· • Employer pays during work
ï‚· • Continue paying after job to keep benefits
ï‚· • Stay with same company if changing jobs
15. National Insurance
ï‚· • Employer must register worker and pay monthly
16. Travel Expenses
ï‚· • LIVE-OUT or hospital workers must be reimbursed
